Has Apple become ‘too’ big?

As all Apple fans know today was Macworld 2007, but more than that it was an absolutely insane day for myself. Last night a few friends and I decided to take a three hour drive to New York City, rather random, but I figured I could check out the Apple store on Fifth Avenue.
I went all day with out watching the Stevenote or even hearing about what happened, until about 3:30 when I walked into the huge store on Fifth Avenue.
Fear not, I opened up Engadget and read all the coverage, I saw iTV AppleTV and I saw the iPhone, but I looked for a continue reading button, or something more. Surely Apple would do something to their computers, or show off iLife 07, I mean how is Steve supposed to talk for two hours on these two devices?

After catching a train to New Jersey and riding home to Maryland I began to think that maybe Apple was getting too big. Remember the days when even the best rumor sites could not get everything Steve was about to unveil. I also remembered sitting at McDonalds in Time Square reading about Apple news on a marque, and though I like to see the best computer company succeed, I am worried that they may get too large for their own good.

Lets face it. We all pretty much knew that the iPhone would show up, so what about another secret device, or upgrades, or something. Not at this Macworld. If you look at Apple’s history over the past two years we saw them open themselves up more and more. This worries me. It started with iTunes going to Windows, then the switch to Intel which added Windows capabilities and Macs being sold in Best Buys (eww), last year Apple showed devices before they released them (un-Apple like), and today Apple releases a device that they may have felt pressured to release (the iPhone). People were designing them years ago.
Thankfully, I do no think that Apple is releasing junk, just the opposite, but I am just worried that their popularity may be getting too large for their own good. When will the bubble burst?
Many loyal Mac fans are skeptical of this Macworld, some are even hoping that Apple is waiting to show something else. I think not, I just hope that Apple does not get too big headed.
