5 tips you haven’t heard of for gaining traffic to your blog

I get tired of the same old stuff, “submit to Digg” or “join Technorati“, both of which are good ideas, but I have five tips for gaining traffic to your blog that no one else will tell you about.

I told you once before, that I was already accused of being a spammer for trying to promote the zamwi.com relaunch. But I do not think it is spam to promote your work. So here are five ways that I found work the best for promoting your blog.

1. Comment - I’m a blog, you’re a blog, we’re all blogs. If there is one thing I hate it is spam commnets. NEVER go to a blog trying to think of something to write as a comment purely for self promotion. However, commenting with something insightful will often leave readers thinking that your know your stuff…which results in a click. If you are going to comment, comment wisely.
2. Get some schwag man - So you are not going to be the next Google or Digg, that is okay, it does not mean that you can not promote yourself like you are. Order some buttons, make some ties, and give them away. Though I do not have my schwag in yet, expect to see it soon.
3. Performancing - Being involved in a community of people who are all seeking the same goal is huge. I have been a part of numerous forums, but it was not until the Performancing forum that I really felt a sense of community. Not only does Performancing have a forum, but it has stats, which I use to get to know my readers a little better, and you can advertise or purchase advertising. Performancing is the center of all things blogs.
4. Promote yourself within yourself - The zamwi.com relaunch has launched four more blogs and numerous of pages. I have designed the site in such a way that there are links to most everything on every page. Your goal is to keep people exploring on your site once they are there. Also linking to previous articles in blog entries is a great way for people to learn more about your writing and your previous work.
5. There is a social network for that - I talked before about using tons of social networks, no matter what content you are producing there is a social network for what you are doing. Recently I have used Newsvine, Video Bomb, Furl, Reddit, Del.icio.us, Ma.gnolia, Mefeedia, and Vlogdir. Although, I also get a lot of hits from bulletins in Myspace (no matter how much I hate Myspace).
