The line between spam and self promotion

I have to admit, all that I have done online in the past couple days is submit work to social bookmarking sites about the zamwi relaunch. I have been trying to get the zamwi name out there in as many ways necessary.
From video, to sports, to tech news I have submitted it all to various sources online. I have created usernames and passwords for over ten networks and submitted all of the work to each one. While many would call this spam, I call it self promotion.
I am unable to fund advertising as a form of promotion, but I am able to publicize by letting the people decide if zamwi’s content is worth reading/watching. By submitting to digg, Netscape, YouTube, Video Bomb, Newsvine, Del.icio.us, and others, I am allowing users to determine if my content is worthwhile.
It was not until this morning that I was accused of being a spammer, and that is when I realized that maybe I am…

Is it wrong for someone to put their content out their for others to find, if I did not do it, then no one would. I mean I am not emailing hundreds of thousands of people telling them that I am their bank and I need some information, but I am trying to get the good word out there. If not me, then who? Is this considered spam? If it is then how do you get your name out there with out resorting to spam?

[...] I get tired of the same old stuff, “submit to Digg” or “join Technorati“, both of which are good ideas, but I have five tips for gaining traffic to your blog that no one else will tell you about. I told you once before, that I was already accused of being a spammer for trying to promote the zamwi.com relaunch. But I do not think it is spam to promote your work. So here are five ways that I found work the best for promoting your blog. [...]
